The PGY-1 Hospital Residency Program at Desert Regional Medical Center (DRMC) is designed to train young practitioners to make an immediate impact on quality healthcare in the highly technical and rapidly changing acute care environment. Through progressive core rotations and resident-tailored elective options, our residents are prepared to practice at a high level from the minute they graduate. Quality healthcare is stressed through the progressive clinical pharmacy programs conducted at our site which have led to over 35 posters and abstract presentations in just the last 5 years. The ability for residents to choose from a multitude of practice sites in which they can hone their clinical skills is a part of what makes DRMC unique. As a program with over 25 years of history, the incoming residents will have the opportunity to practice in a 400-bed acute care hospital, a nationally accredited medication management clinic, and an ambulatory infusion site. Additionally, DRMC has added an optional teaching certificate program with Loma Linda University Medical Center which greatly enhances the resident’s involvement with pharmacy students that have rotations at our site. Finally, DRMC prides itself on its close physician relationships which allow residents to make significant impacts on patient care.
